Default Whirling Axe uses?

Recently switched my W/P from a spear-wielder to an axe-wielder, and I've been going around capping Axe Mastery elites.

The uses for most are pretty straightforward.

Triple Chop - beefed up Cyclone Axe
Cleave - faster Executioner's Strike
Eviscerate - beefed up Dismember
Decapitate - beefed up Eviscerate with a greater cost

Whirling Axe, on the other hand, confuses me.
The name made me think it would be another "spinny" axe attack, but it seems to be extremely specific compared to the other elites.

I mean, it's a Factions skill, so it may have been designed with Shiro in mind (where it could work against Meditation of the Reaper...but Wild Blow would be better).

Am I missing something about this skill?

It was changed in Dec 08 from being a very simply attack skill (2 adr, +10-20 damage on hit, disabled for 15 seconds if blocked). This current form gives it some use in PvP.
In PvE though, it's use is much more limited (although this is true of the axe in general really).

It's more of a utility elite that helps a Warrior from having his damage being prevented. Not every attack elite needs to be (nor should they be) straight up damage.

Only use I can see for it atm is PvP. Its unblockable and removes a stance so it's useful for removing balanced stance/bonetti's and other such annoying stances that most monks ( in ra at least) are packing.

It's also a sumwhat annoying skill in the Kilroy Stonekin Dungeon in Eotn (the brawling one) as it removes your only block skill.

Meditation of the reaper cant be removed by wild blow etc as its not a stance. The skill everyone wants stance removal for is Battle Scars!

As for its uses, its great in pvp for destroying stance tank monks, coz most of them dont know how to survive without them so you destroy their balanced/bonettis and you win. Pve, its not worth it as if your facing lots of stances your better off with a scythe and wild blow.

In Pve, don't use it, its useless since u got Wild Blow which is energy based and it's a ''normal'' skill. As elite in pve, I like to go with Triple Chop + Cyclon + Whirlwind (max SS ftw ). Since 1-target damage isn't really usefull against mobs...

Unless of course you plan on using adrenaline...

I always bring Whirling Axe if there are (non-block) stances to end in whatever I'm doing.

It's nice in Consulate Docks where you're attacked by rows of Kournan Soldiers that have Whirling Defense active for what seems like several weeks at a time. Wouldn't run it otherwise though.

Use it with Furious axe and it makes killing stuff with block stances way easier. Like during the venta cemetery where there's that last kournan bowman standing at a guard tower and he just won't go down, lead with furious axe if you don't have whirl charged, and follow up with whirling, then spike it dead with dismember and executors. This also works on the jade armors with their whirling defense+oath shot, white mantle seekers with dryders defense and some devourers with lightning reflexes.

Furious axe --> whirling axe on Kournan bowmen with whirling defense. That's the best answer I have.

it has it uses, however better off bringing rigor mortis /defile defenses or wild throw on ur heroes then wasting an elite slot, its crap for pve

pvp its quite godly against rangers n monks, but would also go hammer with wild throw instead
